I chose to create both a teaser and theatrical trailer for the Grand Budapest Hotel, to experiment with the differences between the two types of trailers and to practice making a trailer for myself. I chose the Grand Budapest Hotel in particular as I like the stylistic approach Wes Anderson has to his film making especially how he created the hotel on a miniature scale to film.
Teaser Trailer:
For my teaser trailer I wanted to avoid the mention of the main plot; where Gustave is arrested for the murder of one of his elderly guests. By avoiding the main plot the audience will be surprise when they watch the next trailer which will give away more of the plot. My idea was that the teaser just hints at the stylistic aspects of the film and introduces a few main characters.
Theatrical trailer:
The theatrical trailer on the other hand introduces the audience to the elderly lady's death conviction for the murder making it a more intriguing trailer. The theatrical trailer would also notify the audience of more of the actors in the film especially the more famous ones as they could act as celebrity endorsement.
